Privacy Notice

Last updated: June 8, 2026

This notice explains how Clipdeco arts ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses and shares personal data when you use Shortwave. Clipdeco arts is the data controller for the personal data described below.

1. Personal data we collect

  • Account data: name, email address, password (hashed), profile preferences.
  • Content data: videos, transcripts, clips, captions and other materials you upload or generate.
  • Usage and telemetry: features used, processing times, error logs, IP address, device and browser identifiers.
  • Support data: messages and attachments you send when contacting support.
  • Payment metadata: subscription tier, plan status, billing period and customer ID returned by our payment provider. We do not store full card details — those are handled by Paddle.

2. Why we use it and our legal basis

  • To provide the service — creating your account, processing videos, generating clips and serving the app (performance of a contract).
  • To secure the service — preventing fraud, abuse and unauthorised access (legitimate interests).
  • To improve the product — aggregated analytics and bug fixing (legitimate interests).
  • To provide customer support — answering your questions and resolving issues (legitimate interests, contract).
  • To send service-related communications — billing receipts, security notices and material product changes (contract, legal obligation).
  • To send marketing communications — only where you have opted in (consent), and you can withdraw consent at any time.
  • To comply with legal obligations — tax, accounting and responding to lawful requests.

3. Who we share it with

  • Service providers / subprocessors — hosting, database, analytics, error monitoring and customer support tooling, acting on our instructions.
  • Merchant of Record (Paddle) — for processing payments, managing subscriptions, calculating tax, issuing invoices and handling refunds.
  • Professional advisers — legal, accounting and audit professionals where reasonably necessary.
  • Authorities — where we are required by law, court order or to protect our rights.

We do not sell your personal data.

4. International transfers

Some of our subprocessors are located outside the UK and EEA. Where personal data is transferred internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision.

5. How long we keep it

We retain account and content data for as long as your account is active. When you close your account, we delete or anonymise your data within a reasonable period, except where we need to keep it to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes or enforce our agreements.

6. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Have inaccurate data rectified.
  • Have your data erased.
  • Restrict or object to certain processing.
  • Receive your data in a portable format.
  • Withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent.
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us through the support channel in the app. We will respond within one month, or sooner where required by law.

7. Security

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures — including encryption in transit, access controls and audit logging — to protect personal data against unauthorised access, loss or alteration.

8. Cookies

We use essential cookies and local storage to keep you signed in and to remember preferences. We may use a limited number of analytics cookies to understand how the service is used so we can improve it. You can manage cookies through your browser settings; disabling essential cookies may prevent the service from functioning.

9. Contact

For questions about this notice or how we handle your personal data, contact Clipdeco arts through the in-app support channel.
